Symptom

When trying to install our video app, you receive the error message:

Your PC's settings only let it install verified apps from the Store

Possible Causes

This is caused by a setting within Windows that prevents non-Windows apps from being allowed to install. To be sure you install the correct app instead of the alternative they suggested, please see the instructions below.

Resolution

1. Click on the "Open Settings" link at the bottom of the message.

Open Settings link

2. In the window that opens, the apps setting is at the top:

Installing apps: Choose where you can get apps from. Installing only apps from the Store helps protect your PC and keep it running smoothly. Selected: Allow apps from the Store only

Click the current selection "Allow apps from the Store only" and change it to

"Allow apps from anywhere" setting

3. The setting will automatically save when selected. Close this window and double-click on the installation file to re-run.
